Very reminiscent of Aliens & Starship Troopers (released the same year), Quake II was a great single player game although lacking in the multiplayer department compared to the triumph that was Quake / Quakeworld.
This intro set the scene perfectly and kick started the story with a bang.
Another great intro from Diablo II back in 2000. More cut scenes followed during the game and bizarrely none of them had any relevance to the storyline. At least the game was good though.
Back in 1997, Mechwarrior 2 was launched to much fanfare. The demo included a fantastic intro (as did the full game) although sadly the game was somewhat lacking.
It's a fantastic little movie in its own right. The game will probably be an anticlimax though as they so often are. In fact I might have to go on a great intro / rubbish game search through youtube now.
