Pavement coating to ‘eat’ pollution

An invisible pavement coating that can “eat” pollution is to be tested on the capital's worst-affected streets.

Transport for London has modified a winter gritting machine to spray the coating onto roads, and hopes it will reduce levels of PM10, one of the most harmful types of pollution, by up to 20 per cent.

The coating is made up of calcium magnesium acetate and sticks the polluted matter to the roads, preventing it re-circulating in the air. It is used in several European cities, including Barcelona.

If the trial is a success, the system could be used throughout London.

Or...

they could just stop the focus on CO2 emissions and look at the fact that all the low CO2 diesels chuck out massive levels of particulates!

Mazda Shinari Concept

Well if they actually make something that looks like that then I'll be first in line. Sadly it'll be watered down, much like the new BMW 5-series which has been de-Bangled

7 second ring king strikes again!

From the driving technique, it looks like the 7 second ring king** has decided to do another track day

** probably not the exact same driver, but aren't all BMW drivers the same?

Brands Hatch Racemaster

An interesting track day but sadly let down by the weather.

It started off in the M3s which were surprisingly fun.  The steering had a good weight, but some of the drivers were taking it *very* easily.  So slow there was a queue of about 6 cars doing 30mph at one point, slower than they'd probably drive in their road car.  Still once I'd cleared the traffic I had a good run and overtook Rob just before the chequered flag at the end of the session.

The single seaters then followed which were former Palmer Audi cars.  They would have been great in the dry but in the wet I really didn't feel like giving it beans plus they were rev limited on the straight which was really frustrating.

After the session ended we had a debrief and then Rob had a few passenger laps in the instructor driven JP1 which judging by the grin on his face when he stepped out, was quite enjoyable :)

RAF Marham 2009

Another great RAF Marham track day.  This time the bends had been fine tuned and were a bit more flowing and more fun to drive.

Some great cars there, from a Seat touring car to Aston Martins and Ferraris, plus the usual stripped out track special hot hatches

I also took a few in car videos with varying degrees of success.
