Thanks to my friend Rob for pointing it out to me - the Time Online has done an article on the 50 greatest Southampton players
It's a pretty well considered appraisal and shows a knowledge of surrounding events at the club where often statistics don't tell the whole story.
My favourite quote is used for Le Tissier: "Work-ethic managers like Branfoot missed the point: scared managers like Glenn Hoddle daren't risk him for England, but smart managers, like Ball, told his players to fetch the ball and put it at Tiss's feet. He was repaid many times over".
The only disagreement I have is how Chris Marsden (football genius) isn't higher up. A stalwart of the Strachan era, he created more goals than I can remember but the icing on the cake was when he woke up and decided he' mostly be Pele for the day...
